Edelstahl-Ring von Corelune als Weihnachtsgeschenk mit Größentipps
Kurz gesagt: Three ways to determine ring size without spoiling the surprise, plus the option where size doesn't matter.

A ring as a Christmas gift: how to get the size right without asking. In short: A ring is a beautiful but size-sensitive gift. The safest way: secretly measure an existing ring belonging to the person (inner diameter) or choose an adjustable model. This helps you avoid the most common purchase mistake. When giving a gift, the suitability to their usual style is what matters, not the price. Two weeks of lead time leaves room for an exchange if something doesn't fit.

How do you find the ring size?

Method How
Measure an existing ring Determine the inner diameter in mm
Adjustable model Bypasses the size problem
Ask discreetly Find out the size through detours

What should you pay attention to?

  • Correct finger: The size varies depending on the finger; it is best to measure the target finger.
  • Consider the time of day: Fingers can swell slightly in the evening.
  • Choose durability: Waterproof stainless steel rings can withstand everyday life.

As a gift, stainless steel has a practical advantage: it is waterproof and tarnish-proof, so there is nothing that needs to be taken off before showering or exercising. This is exactly what leads to it being worn daily.

How to find out the ring size without asking

The most reliable way is an existing ring. Place it on a ruler and measure the inner diameter in millimeters; multiplied by 3.14 gives the circumference and thus the German ring size. An inner diameter of 17 mm is size 53.

For women, the most common sizes are between 52 and 56; for men, between 60 and 66. This is a guideline, not a guarantee.

What fingers do in winter

Fingers swell in warmth and become narrower in the cold; the difference can be half a size. Anyone measuring in December tends to measure too small. When in doubt, take the larger version; a ring that is too loose can be worn, one that is too tight cannot.

Stainless steel rings cannot be resized (made larger or smaller). This is the honest disadvantage compared to gold or silver at a goldsmith and the reason why the size should be correct beforehand.

The matter of the ring finger

Which finger is intended changes the meaning completely. A ring on the left ring finger is interpreted in Germany as a sign of marriage or engagement, even if it is only meant to look nice.

If you don't want to convey that message, give a slim stacking ring and mention which finger you had in mind when presenting it.

Fittingly: Christmas gift for someone who has everything.

Finding the right piece at Corelune

The selection for this can be found at Corelune under Stainless steel rings, with measurements in millimeters and centimeters on every product page.

The pieces are made of stainless steel. Gold-plated parts have a 2.5-micrometer-thick layer of 14-karat gold, silver-colored ones a white gold plating, and rose-colored ones rose gold. The material does not tarnish and tolerates shower water, sweat, and chlorine. What stainless steel cannot do: it has no material value, and rings can only be resized to a limited extent.
