How does ring sizing work?

In Germany and the EU, ring size is specified by the inner circumference in millimeters. A ring with size 52 therefore has an inner circumference of 52 mm. The inner diameter would accordingly be 52 ÷ 3.14159 = 16.5 mm.

Typical women's ring sizes: 48–58 mm (most common: 52–56)
Typical men's ring sizes: 56–68 mm (most common: 60–64)

Method 1: Paper strip method (recommended)

The most accurate home measurement:

1. Cut a narrow strip of paper (approx. 5 mm wide, 10 cm long)
2. Wrap it snugly around the finger on which the ring is to be worn
3. Mark with a pen where the end overlaps
4. Lay the strip flat and measure the length from the beginning to the mark in mm
5. The result in mm is your ring size

Important notes:

• Always measure at the warmest part of the day (evening) – fingers are slightly narrower in the morning
• Always measure the finger on which the ring is to be worn (not always symmetrical)
• If you are between two sizes: choose the larger one
