The goldsmith cuts a small piece out of the ring shank and solders the ends back together. The ring is then polished, making the seam invisible. Possible for: most gold rings up to 2 to 3 sizes smaller.

Making a ring larger: The more complex procedure

In this process, a small piece of gold is inserted into the ring shank and the shank is stretched. Alternatively, the ring is cut at the shank and lengthened with a piece of gold. More complex than making it smaller, but quite feasible for up to approx. 2 sizes.

What does it cost?
