Measure the inner diameter or inner circumference – we'll do the rest.

Tip: Place a ring on a ruler and measure from inner edge to inner edge.

How to measure your ring size correctly

There are two reliable methods to determine your ring size at home. Both will give you a value that you can enter directly into the calculator above.

Method 1: Measuring an existing ring

Take a ring that fits well on the desired finger. Lay it flat on a ruler and measure the inner diameter from one inner edge to the opposite inner edge in millimeters. Select "Diameter" mode in the calculator and enter the value.

Method 2: Measuring your finger with string

Wrap a thin string or a strip of paper around the thickest part of your finger – usually the middle joint. Mark the overlap with a pen and measure the length to the mark. This is your inner circumference. Select "Circumference" mode in the calculator.

Tips for accurate measurement

  • Measure in the evening: Fingers swell slightly during the day and in warm temperatures – it's best to measure at the end of the day at room temperature.
  • Between sizes? Round up. If you are between two sizes, choose the larger one – the ring must fit over the joint.
  • Choose a larger size for wide rings: For wide ring designs (approx. 6 mm or more), half to a full size larger is recommended.
  • Measure several times: Perform the measurement 2–3 times and take the average value.

Frequently asked questions about ring size

What does the German ring size mean?

The German or European ring size corresponds exactly to the inner circumference of the ring in millimeters. So size 54 means 54 mm inner circumference.

How do I find out the ring size for a gift?

Secretly borrow a ring that the person already wears on the correct finger and measure the inner diameter. Alternatively, you can trace the inner diameter onto paper.

Does the ring fit the same on every finger?

No. Each finger has its own size – always measure exactly the finger on which the ring is to be worn.
