The most common jewelry damage and their solutions
Torn or broken chain
Repairable? Almost always yes. A jeweler solders the chain link together – but with fine chains (under 1 mm), the material can be so thin that a repair only lasts for a short time. Cost: €10–40 depending on chain thickness and material. When is it worth it? Always when it is real gold or silver. For thin fashion jewelry under €15 purchase price: new purchase often cheaper.
Loose or lost stone
Loose stone: Go to the jeweler immediately – before it gets lost. Bending prongs is inexpensive (€15–30). Lost stone: Buy a replacement stone + have it set.
