Kurz gesagt: Body Jewelry: Anklets, Toe Rings, Belly Chains, Navel Jewelry, Hand Chains, and Back Jewelry Explained – History, Styles, and Wearing.

Jewellery is not limited to the neck, ears, and fingers – the body offers many other areas that make jewellery shine. From delicate ankle bracelets to belly button jewellery: This guide explains which jewellery suits which body part.

Ankle Bracelet / Anklet

The ankle bracelet around the ankle joint is one of the most sensual jewellery styles. In summer – with bare legs or sandals – it is particularly visible and effective. Styles: Fine gold chain (very elegant), pearl anklet (summery), charm anklet with small pendants, rolo chain for a more masculine look. Length: Standard is 25–27 cm, extension chain included.

History: Anklets have a 7,000-year history – from ancient Egypt to India (Payal) to modern festivals.

Toe Ring

A ring on the toe – usually on the second toe (the one after the big toe). Very summery and feminine. Open rings are standard as toes stretch. Gold and silver equally popular. In India traditionally known as a wedding toe ring (Bichiya) – married women wear it on both second toes.

Belly Button / Navel Piercing

One of the most popular body piercings ever. Standard: Curved barbell with ball or stone ends at the top and bottom. For fresh piercings: Only titanium or 316L, at least 6 months. After healing: Gold, silver, stainless steel – large selection of pendant designs. Very expressive in summer and bikini looks.

Belly Chain

No piercing necessary: A chain worn around the waist or hips. Very trendy in 2027, especially after the viral trend through various celebrity photos. Styles: Fine gold chain simply around the waist, multiple chains layered, chain with pendant or stone at the front. For bikinis, crop tops, beaches, and festivals.

Wrist Jewellery Beyond Bracelets

Hand Chain: A chain that connects between a ring and a bracelet – the ring sits on the finger, the chain runs over the back of the hand to the bracelet. Very ornamental and festive. For weddings, evening events, oriental-inspired looks.

Hair Jewellery

Already covered in its own guide – but briefly here: Hairpins with small gold balls, hair chains, pearl hairpins. The most versatile of all body jewellery zones.

Back Jewellery (Back Body Chain)

A chain that runs across the back – attached to a necklace and a hip chain. Very dramatic for backless dresses and off-shoulder looks. Still a niche product, but a growing trend in 2027.

Knee Jewellery and Thigh Chain

Very niche – but present in certain festival and fashion contexts. Thigh chain: Worn around the thigh. For very bold, expressive looks.
