How to store jewelry properly?

Proper jewelry storage means: each piece separate, in its own compartment or pouch, cool and dry. The biggest mistake is throwing all pieces together in a dish – diamonds scratch gold, gold chains tangle, pearls dry out.

The golden storage rules

• Each piece in its own compartment or velvet pouch
• Store chains hanging – they won't get tangled
• Not in the bathroom: humidity accelerates tarnishing and weakens clasps
• Anti-tarnish strips in the jewelry box for silver
• Separate by material: diamond can scratch gold and silver

Special requirements

• Pearls: Store separately, not too dry (silk pouch)
• Opals: Lightly moisten occasionally – otherwise they dry out
• Moonstone: Not with hard stones – surface is delicate
