With gold, you call a goldsmith and have it stretched by half a size. With stainless steel, that is not possible. The material is too hard and cannot be soldered cleanly without ruining the surface. That might sound like a disadvantage, but it is the reason why the ring remains round and dent-free even after five years.

Measure correctly, don't guess

Take a thin strip of paper, wrap it around your finger, mark the overlap, and measure the length in millimeters. The result is directly your German ring size. Three points where most people go wrong: fingers are narrower in the morning than in the evening, narrower in winter than in summer, and the ring must fit over the knuckle, not just around the narrowest part below it. Width changes the perceived size

A 2-millimeter narrow ring fits loosely at size 54. The same circumference with a width of 8 millimeters feels tight because more material has to pass the knuckle and less skin can breathe. A rule of thumb from practice: order half a size larger for widths starting at 6 millimeters, and a whole size larger for widths from 10 millimeters.

No. Stainless steel is too hard and springs back, and the weld seam would be visible on the surface. No reputable goldsmith will offer this. That is why good shops offer generous return periods so you can check the size at home instead of guessing.

Does a stainless steel ring turn the finger green?

No. Green discoloration is caused by copper, which forms copper salts in contact with sweat. Stainless steel contains no free copper, so the skin stays clean, even during sports or summer heat. Green edges are almost always a sign of brass or bronze under a thin coating.
