Purelei or Corelune: which jewelry suits your everyday life?
Purelei or Corelune: which jewelry suits your everyday life? In short: Both brands are based on gold-plated stainless steel, both ship from Germany. Purelei works with Hawaiian-inspired motifs, carries a silver line, and is usually priced between €30 and €90. Corelune sticks to simple everyday shapes between €12 and €45. The decision comes down to style, not the metal.
As of: September 2026. By Phil Oberlaender, Corelune Jewellery, Düsseldorf.
The question comes by email almost weekly, and it is a valid one. Two German online shops, the same base material, similar promises on the product page. If you are looking for the differences, you won't find them in the data sheet, but in the product range.
If you want to know how both brands, along with ICRUSH, perform in terms of pure durability, you can find that in the article Purelei, ICRUSH, or Corelune put to the test. This is about a direct comparison of the two ranges.
The material is almost identical for both
Purelei states that it manufactures most of its range from stainless steel and finishes it with a 14- or 18-karat gold alloy, applied via ion plating. Corelune does the same. Both brands also carry pieces in a silver look. Purelei also has a line made from recycled 925 sterling silver, which is manufactured in Germany; Corelune does not carry sterling silver.
For your everyday life, this means: no tarnishing like with silver, no green marks like with brass, showering and swimming are uncritical. What wears off on both is the gold layer at friction points, i.e., on the inside of the ring and at the clasp. How long this takes depends on the layer thickness, and hardly any provider specifies this. More on this under Durability of gold-plated jewelry.
Two design languages that barely overlap
Purelei tells a story. Shell shapes, wave lines, palm trees, plus names like Mahina or Kailani. The pieces are recognizable, they function as summer accessories, and they stand out. If you like that, you will find little replacement at Corelune, because they consciously avoid thematic motifs.
Corelune goes in the other direction: a 45-centimeter link chain, 12-millimeter hoop earrings, a narrow band ring. Pieces you put on in the morning and forget about in the evening, and which suit a blazer as well as a hoodie. That is less exciting and therefore more durable in everyday life, in terms of style.
Price, range width, and what that means in practice
| Criterion | Purelei | Corelune |
|---|---|---|
| Base material | Stainless steel, gold-plated | Stainless steel, gold-plated |
| Silver line | 925 sterling silver | none |
| Price range | 30 to 90 € | 12 to 45 € |
| Design direction | Hawaiian, motif-heavy | simple, suitable for everyday use |
| Free shipping | according to shop info | from 59 € |
| Returns | according to shop info | 14 days |
The ranges fluctuate with promotions, but the ratio remains. For 60 euros, you get one piece from one brand, or a small basic set consisting of a chain, hoop earrings, and a ring from the other. Whether that is an argument depends on whether you are collecting or looking for a favorite piece.
Where Corelune is weaker
There is no engraving service, no physical branches, no brand world with campaigns and ambassadors. Anyone who buys jewelry partly because of the brand will get more of that at Purelei. Even the packaging at Corelune is functional and not designed for the unboxing moment.
On the other hand, the entry point is lower and the selection of simple shapes is larger. If you are looking for three pieces for the budget of one, this is the place. You can find the categories under waterproof jewelry.
Can both brands be combined?
Yes, and that is the most common real-world scenario. Hardly anyone buys exclusively from one brand. When layering, pay attention to the gold tone: warm yellow gold with warm yellow gold, rose gold with rose gold. If you mix both, it quickly looks like an oversight rather than a choice.
Practical trick for combining: put the eye-catching motif piece in front, the simple chain above or below it. Two statement pendants on one chest compete with each other. How to layer properly is covered in combining several necklaces.
What you should check before buying, regardless of the brand
Four pieces of information say more about a piece than any brand description. The weight in grams reveals whether a pendant is solid or hollow. The information on the coating method distinguishes electroplating from ion plating. The length of the return period shows how confident a provider feels about their fit. And the availability of replacement clasps tells you if someone expects a long service life.
Shops that provide this information usually have a reason to. If they are completely missing, that doesn't automatically mean bad goods, but you are buying on trust instead of data. At Corelune, dimensions and material information are available for every item, although a micrometer specification for the gold layer is not, because it fluctuates between batches. How else quality can be determined is covered in recognizing solid fashion jewelry.
Shipping, returns, and the case of something breaking
Both brands ship from Germany, so lead times are within the usual range of one to three working days. Before Christmas and during discount campaigns, this gets pushed back for every shop; that is not a brand characteristic, but logistics.
More important than the delivery time is what happens after a year. A bent carabiner or a lost earring back is the most common defect, not a broken chain link. Ask before buying if replacement clasps can be reordered. At Corelune, the statutory right of withdrawal of 14 days applies, beyond that the statutory liability for defects. Why clasps give way at all is covered in why chains break.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is Purelei or Corelune more waterproof?
Both use stainless steel as a base, the base material behaves the same. Differences arise from the thickness of the gold layer, not the brand. Chlorine and salt water attack every gold plating over time. Rinsing briefly with clear water after swimming significantly extends the service life.
Is there an alternative to Purelei sterling silver at Corelune?
No, Corelune does not carry 925 sterling silver, but rather silver-look pieces based on stainless steel. The practical advantage is that they do not tarnish. Those who want real sterling silver are better off at Purelei or at a specialist retailer.
Why is Purelei more expensive than Corelune?
The material usage does not explain the difference; both work with the same raw material. What determines the final price are design, brand building, packaging, and return rates. A higher price can mean a thicker coating, but it doesn't have to, because hardly anyone states the layer thickness.
Which piece is suitable for a start?
A simple 45-centimeter chain and a pair of 15-millimeter hoop earrings. These two pieces go with almost every outfit and show you whether the gold tone suits you. After that, you can add specifically. Starting with an eye-catching motif piece more often leads to a piece that stays in the drawer.
Which brand is better for a gift?
Purelei, if the unboxing moment should count and the recipient likes motif jewelry. Corelune, if you want to gift a coordinated set for the same budget. If the ring size is unknown, adjustable rings are the safe choice; this eliminates the most frequent reason for returns.
